The transport cooperative societies has been registered with an object to ensure better transport facilities for passengers and goods transport in competition with private sector and to provide employment opportunities to the people through Cooperative efforts. Labour & Cooperative Societies in H.P.

The Labour & construction cooperatives are organized in the State with the object to improve the socio-economic status of poor laboures consisting of economically weaker section of the society and to educate un-employed youths and Engineers. Non-Agriculture Cooperative Credit Societies.

Presently, 404 non-agricultural credit cooperative societies are working in the State and playing an important role in improving the socio-economic conditions of the people in state. These NAC’s working in the State with the objects to inculcate habit of savings as well as to meet the credit requirements of their members.; The Societies are advancing credit for domestic requirement, education of children, religious and social occasions ,purchase of consumer durables, construction/additional/alteration of house shop, purchase of vehicle for personal/commercial use etc in shape of medium term loan maximum for the period of 60 months. The maximum credit limit to a single member in such a societies is Rs.5.00 lacs.

During the year 2012-13 there were 401 NAC’s working in the State out of which 331 were in profit and 27 were in loss. Position as on 31.3.2013 is as below:

Primary Milk Cooperative Societies

There are 322 Primary Milk Cooperative Societies in the State. The main object of these societies are to collect the Milk from members & non-members and to provide technical & scientific management practices to its members. The present status of these societies are as given below:-

Fisheries Federations.

The Govind Sagar Fisheries Cooperative Marketing & Supplies Federation Ltd; Bilaspur(Fish fed) came into existence on 5.3.1976 with the main objective of ensuring socio-economic upliftment of fisherman through their members Cooperative Societies. But the management failed to look after the business/interest of fish fed. Hence placed under liquidation on 21.4.2006.

Consumer Co-operative Societies
With a main objective of providing consumer articles to the common people and members at fixed prices, the consumer store have been established in addition to the Primary Agriculture cooperative Societies. Through these stores mainly the essential commodities under Public Distribution System is distributed to the consumers through the retail shops run by these consumer stores. The working status of the consumer co-operative societies as on 31.3.2013 in the State is as detailed below:-
