Inspection

Under the H.P. Cooperative Societies Act, 1968, an inspection of a Cooperative Society is an official, statutory process of checking/examination of necessary documents, procedures etc. that the businesses, policy decisions and their implementations taken by the Management and its officers are in the correct order and that they are doing things in the manner they should actually do . To serve the above purpose, the Registrar, under section 65 of the ibid Act, from time to time, inspect a registered society himself or cause it to be inspected by some person authorized by him in this behalf by general or special order and communicate the result of the inspection to the society within a period of one month from the date of completion of such inspection.

On the application of a creditor, the inspection of the books of the indebted society can also be made under the provisions of section 66 of the ibid Act by the Registrar himself or by a person authorized by him in this behalf by general or special order in writing.

Note: In exercising the functions under the Act, the Registrar, the arbitrator or any other person deciding the dispute or person entitled to inspect, have all the powers of Civil Court as provided for under section 71 of the H.P. Co-operative Societies Act, 1968
